SUSTAINABILITY & BIG DATA MANAGER

As a knowledge partner in animal feed production, SFR is increasingly asked and getting involved in defining sustainability parameters for the feed and animal production industry. Our Advanced Feed Package (AFP) customers are prioritising the calculation of their ecological footprint, driven by the need to comply with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and their desire to be leaders in the field. 

Next to this, SFR performs more than 80 different animal nutrition trials per year for validation and registration purposes. By collecting data at individual and pen level of many animals, we gain a wealth of input that can be used for analysing carbon footprint and other environmental impact parameters. This will greatly support SFR researchers and consultants in developing new ideas or concepts to address the challenges our contract research partners face.

As Sustainability and Big Data Manager, you are responsible for leading the sustainability dossier across animal species in SFR to deliver innovative solutions for our partners. This means latest information and existing legislation is implemented in SFR products such as the SFR matrix or in animal trials. On the other hand, as Big Data Manager you are responsible for the development, maintenance, and analysis of the data coming from SFR animal trials (including all historical trials) to help SFR Consultants and Researchers to answer question from the clients or generate new R&D ideas.  

Main Activities and Objectives

• Design and implement the sustainability strategy within SFR for benefit of SFR researchers and consultants Clients and Partners
• Together with the SFR Matrix Manager implement sustainability parameters in the SFR matrix for dairy, swine, and poultry
• Assist SFR colleagues and clients in making sustainability simulations and developing innovative solutions
• Develop, maintain, and perform Big Data analysis coming from SFR animal trials data in close collaboration with SFR Researchers and Consultants
• Giving courses and presentations
