Introduction of the SFR SwineModel©
Schothorst Feed Research is proud to introduce the SwineModel©, an advanced simulation tool designed to support nutritionists and technical specialists in optimizing finishing pig performance.
The model predicts growth from approximately 25 kg to typical slaughter weights (115–130 kg), with the flexibility to simulate a broader range (15–200 kg). It provides a detailed, day-by-day insight into technical performance, economic outcomes, and sustainability throughout the finishing period.
Built as a multifactorial mechanistic model, the SwineModel© integrates knowledge from research, literature, and field data. By explicitly modelling key factors such as genetics, nutrition, health, and climate, it not only predicts performance but also explains why results occur.
A key strength of the model is its ability to translate SFR Feed Recommendations into farm-specific results. By incorporating local conditions and enabling scenario comparisons, users can clearly evaluate the impact of changes in diet, management, or environment.
The SwineModel© generates comprehensive reports on growth, feed efficiency, economics, and environmental impact, supporting informed, data-driven decision-making. The model is available to participants of the AFP (Advanced Feed Program).
