SFR is a leading institute for research on optimal animal nutrition. In addition to optimal animal production, our research topics are also animal health and welfare, sustainability and quality of the end products. Your research will have a tangible impact, as results are directly translated into practical applications that improve animal nutrition and farm productivity.

Our swine team is a team of 8 experts supported by experienced research assistants and biotechnicians, ensuring strong collaboration and efficient project execution. The team initiates and conducts research, provides consultancy, and provides training in the field of swine nutrition. Important themes include the nutritional evaluation of raw materials, the determination of nutrient requirements, and the relationships between diet, animal health, welfare, the environment, and meat quality.

As a researcher Swine/Monogastric Nutrition, you are responsible for carrying out research projects in the field of nutrition and production. You ensure that customer requirements and wishes are translated into feed concepts and research projects. You translate scientific knowledge into practical applications. You disseminate results into practical recommendations by giving courses and participating in relevant symposiums.

Main Activities and Objectives

  • Get in contact with client to identify the client needs and translate it into a Research Proposal. You manage research projects in SFR with close contact with the project office, lab and the animal care takers.
  • Reporting of results and translating scientific information into practical recommendations
  • Giving courses and presentations
  • Maintaining customer relations
  • In addition to practical recommendations, you will have opportunities to publish findings in scientific journals, contributing to the scientific community

Job Requirements

  • MSc or PhD degree in Animal Sciences, preferably with certificate in laboratory animal science (art. 9)
  • Know-how about monogastric animal nutrition and digestive physiology
  • Good knowledge of statistics
  • Good writing skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Strong motivation, flexibility, and willingness to learn
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • While fluency in Dutch is not required initially, we offer language support to help you become proficient over time
