As Research Trial Specialist, you operate at the intersection of animal nutrition, data, and research execution. You are part of the project office department and ensure that trials are planned, executed, monitored and analysed. You collaborate closely with researchers, animal caretakers and laboratory colleagues to secure reliable results and impactful insights. This is a hands-on role that is partly coordinating, technical, and analytical, and ideal for someone with knowledge of, or interest in animal nutrition, automation systems, and applied research.

You play a key role in ensuring high-quality trial execution by supervising on-farm activities, securing accurate data collection, and contributing to continuous process optimisation. In addition to trial supervision, you support the Trial Feed Coordinator in the formulation and planning of trial diets. Your affinity with technology and farm automation enables you to drive improvements in research quality, operational efficiency, and data reliability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise the full research trial workflow, including planning, preparation, execution, data collection, and result processing, in accordance with SFR research processes and quality standards.
  • Support with the formulation of trial diets and coordinate feed production scheduling to ensure timely and accurate availability of trial feeds.
  • Operate, monitor and troubleshoot automated systems, contributing to programming and system optimisation within the trial management system where applicable.
  • Responsible for performing statistical analyses on datasets and providing input for the trial report, ensuring accuracy and consistency of research outputs.
  • Identify bottlenecks during trials and develop proposals for process improvements to enhance efficiency and data reliability.
    • Collaborate closely with researchers, animal caretakers and laboratory staff to optimise trial execution and ensure smooth cross-functional workflows.
    • Ensure full compliance with ethical, legal and safety guidelines throughout all trial activities.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • MBO or HBO degree in agriculture or a comparable field.
  • Agricultural background or practical experience in intensive livestock farming is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with data collection, processing and analysis.
  • Practical mindset and willingness to work hands-on in our own facilities.
  • Eager to learn, proactive and open to new developments.
  • Affinity with automation systems, technical equipment or ICT is an advantage.
  • Working proficiency in Dutch and English, written and spoken.
