Schothorst Feed Research provides insight into ration performance with new software
Schothorst Feed Research and Ruminix Software jointly developed E dairy. Optimizing dairy cattle rations worldwide can become simpler.
SFR has developed a proprietary rationing model that predicts milk yield based on specific feed inputs. Producers can handle both nutrition and production efficiency. “We were looking for a ration calculation program in which we could build our E-Dairy feedevaluation system. It had to be easy to use, cost-effective and able to demonstrate the value of SFR’s data and expertise to potential customers,” explains Dr. Wilfried van Straalen, Senior Researcher & Ruminants Advisor at Schothorst Feed Research. Ruminix came up with the ideal solution. In close collaboration with A-Systems, SFR has successfully integrated its E-dairy model, together with the E-beef version, into the Ruminix software.
Accessible for feed manufacturers worldwide
This collaboration makes SFR’s advanced expertise in dairy nutrition more accessible to feed manufacturers around the world. They can make data-driven decisions for optimal milk production. The platform now offers feed producers a user-friendly interface to calculate rations, predict milk yield and visualize key performance indicators. With Ruminix, SFR can now offer its customers licenses to access the software, expanding its reach, especially in international markets.
Easy to use
“The program is not only easy to use, but also shows how our data and knowledge can be applied into practical ration formulation on dairy and beef farms. It is an excellent tool to promote long-term partnerships with feed producers,” says Wilfried van Straalen. Additionally, Ruminix provides flexibility for future uses such as performing experimental calculations, further strengthening its role as a cornerstone of SFR’s research and customer service.
