MySFR is SFR’s raw material matrix, containing characteristics of more than 400 raw materials. It is updated annually and can be easily imported into various linear programming software packages. In addition to standard chemical compositions, the raw material matrix also includes SFR-specific nutrient values based on our own research.
Energy Evaluation System
The energy values for the different animal categories are based on energy evaluation systems developed by Schothorst Feed Research (SFR) and are reviewed and updated regularly. A unique feature of this feed value table is that each raw material has its own energy value for the different animal categories. By matching the energy values as closely as possible to the nutritional requirements of each animal, feed can be used as efficiently as possible while minimising environmental impact.
The energy evaluation systems are based on the following principles for each animal species:
- Poultry: Metabolisable Energy (ME) system with different digestibility coefficients for broilers, laying hens and turkeys.
- Swine: Net Energy (NE) system with different formulas and digestibility coefficients for piglets, growing-finishing pigs, gestating sows and lactating sows.
- Ruminants: Net Energy (E-Dairy) system, which calculates the supply of glycogenic, lipogenic and aminogenic nutrients while taking rumen fermentation, intestinal digestion and nutrient absorption into account.
A key feature of the SFR raw material matrix is that all values are determined under practical conditions using high-performing animals at different stages of life. Every year, the nutritional value of a large number of raw materials is evaluated through ongoing research. This provides reliable insight into the relative ranking of raw materials and ensures that the matrix is continuously updated with the latest scientific knowledge.
